Samsung Brings OLED Burn In Protection Again in One UI 6.1

Samsung has just rolled out One UI 6.1 to a number of its devices. This latest version of One UI comes with a number of new features, including Galaxy AI.

But not only that, Samsung is reportedly also bringing changes via One UI 6.1. Quoting information from 9to5Google, Wednesday (3/4/2024), the South Korean company also restored the burn-in protection capability on OLED screens.

As the name suggests, this protection is here to protect against the possibility of burn-in on the OLED screen. However, in One UI 6, Samsung is known to have removed some of the burn-in protection capabilities on OLED.

The way this feature works is by slightly shifting the position of the icon in the status bar to prevent the screen from experiencing a burn-in condition when used for long-term use.

Actually, in the previous update, this feature was not completely lost, because Samsung still did it in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen and when Always-On Display was active. However, with this update, this ability is back in the status bar.

Only for now, the presence of this feature has only been tested on the Galaxy S23. It is not yet known whether other devices that get One UI 6.1 will also receive this feature, but it is almost certain that Samsung will also bring it to other devices.

For your information, Samsung itself has rolled out One UI 6.1 to a number of devices several days ago. As a mainstay, there is the Galaxy AI feature presented through this update.
