Apple iPhone 16 Released Soon, Brings New Buttons and Design Overhaul

This year, it is reported that Apple will launch its newest generation smartphone, the iPhone 16. This cellphone will bring new changes, one of which is the addition of new buttons on the iPhone and a fresher design.

According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, as quoted from Android Authority, Thursday (28/3/2024), the iPhone 16 will have a new button called the Capture Button.

It is estimated that the button will appear on the right side of the device. According to information, the Capture Button can be used to take photos or record videos.

The report also states that the buttons on this latest iPhone can respond based on whether or not the pressure is applied.

For example, pressing the button lightly will set the camera to focus on the object, whereas, if you press the button harder, the iPhone will take a picture or start recording.

It is also stated that users can move the button left or right to increase or decrease the zoom.

Several other reports indicate changes in the design of the iPhone 16 line. However, the design overhaul carried out by Apple is said to be not too significant.

A MacRumors report leaked three different early prototypes of the iPhone 16. The first iPhone 16 prototype is said to be yellow with an iPhone X-style camera.

Then, there is a volume button that can provide feedback in the form of vibrations from the Taptic Engine.

Another iPhone prototype comes in pink. From the leak, this smartphone is said to have a camera aligned vertically, as well as separate volume buttons.

The third prototype, shown in Midnight Black, features a vertically aligned camera with separate volume buttons. However, this iPhone has a larger Action Button and a new Capture Button.

iPhone 16 screen will be bigger

Previously, it was rumored that the iPhone 16 would have a larger screen than the previous generation.

Mark Gurman and display analyst Ross Young agree that Apple plans to increase the size of both iPhone 16 Pro models “by a few tenths of an inch diagonally.”

The new iPhone screens are predicted to measure 6.2 inches and 6.8 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max respectively, making them the largest ever.

Meanwhile, 9to5Mac claims the iPhone will feature an “Ultra” series next year featuring a 6.9-inch screen, while the smaller iPhone 16 Pro could get a 6.3-inch OLED.

Meanwhile, for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus lines, Android Authority estimates that Apple will continue to use the same screen size as last year's series.

Display analyst Ross Young also believes that Apple is expected to only bring high refresh rate displays to basic series iPhones in 2025.

This shows that the iPhone 16 still uses a 60Hz refresh rate for its screen.

iPhone 16 Series Camera

There are a number of rumors circulating about the camera specifications of the iPhone 16. According to Apple analyst and trusted informant Ming-Chi Kuo, a tetrapyrism zoom lens will be present on the iPhone 16.

For information, this lens is also used on the iPhone 15 Pro series.

Tipster Digital Chat Station from Weibo also claims that the iPhone 16 Pro will get a 5x zoom camera.

They also claim the iPhone 16 Pro will pack a 48MP main camera sensor.

DCS added that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will come with an “ultra-telephoto periscope”, which indicates the upcoming iPhone camera has a very high focal length, beating the Pixel 7 Pro and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Meanwhile, Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu claims that Apple will add a 48MP ultrawide camera to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max.

Ming-Chi Kuo also confirmed this in more detail, noting that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max could switch to a 48MP 1/2.6-inch sensor with a pixel size of 0.7µm and a 6P lens unit for its rear ultrawide camera.

Other Specifications and Features of iPhone 16

The iPhone 16 will experience an increase in specifications, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus carry the A17 Pro chip which is now used in the iPhone 15 Pro cellphone.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro lineup could see Apple's new A18 Bionic chip.

However, analyst Jeff Pu (via Macrumors) has debunked this theory. He claims that the four new iPhone 16 series phones will be equipped with the A18 chip.

Pu also expects the chip to be manufactured by TSMC on a second generation 3nm process, not the first generation 3nm process used on the A17 Pro chip.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will get the A18 chip, while the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be equipped with the A18 Pro chip.

Meanwhile, the storage capacity on the iPhone 16 may remain the same as the iPhone 15 series, but there may be some changes to the RAM.

Jeff Pu stated that the iPhone 16 base model will come with 8GB RAM, compared to the iPhone 15 base model's 6GB RAM.

The iPhone 15 Pro model already has 8 GB RAM, so the iPhone 16 Pro model still uses RAM capacity the same one.
