Xavi Claims Ousmane Dembele Happy at Barcelona Amidst PSG Interest
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has responded to rumors of Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) interest in his player, Ousmane Dembele, during the summer transfer window of 2023.
The 43-year-old tactician downplayed the possibility of Dembele moving to Parc des Princes, stating that the player is still content with his position at Barcelona.
Although Dembele faced challenging times with the Catalan giants, he has shown signs of improvement under Xavi Hernandez's guidance. He played a key role in Barcelona's La Liga title win, despite being hindered by injuries.
Recently, the 26-year-old footballer scored in the pre-season match, securing a 3-0 victory for Blaugrana against their El Clasico rival, Real Madrid, on July 30, 2023.
Despite finding his stride at Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele is still linked with a potential move away from the club during this summer's transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain is mentioned as one of the teams interested in the French forward, with reports suggesting they are willing to pay his €50 million release clause.
However, any attempt to sign Dembele must be made promptly, as his release clause is only active until the end of this month.
Xavi Hernandez Nonchalantly Responds to PSG's Interest in Mbappe
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez casually addresses the rumors regarding PSG's interest in his player, Ousmane Dembele.
The 43-year-old coach doesn't completely deny the possibility of Dembele leaving Barcelona during this transfer window but confidently states that the French player is content with the club.
"We'll see (Dembele's situation). In the transfer window, you never know," Xavi says, as reported by Metro.
"I see Ousmane happy at Barca. If there's anything (related to PSG), he will let us know. For now, he's here, and he's happy," adds the coach.
Ousmane Dembele is Not the Only Barcelona Player Pursued by PSG
For the record, Ousmane Dembele is not the only Barcelona player PSG is eyeing during the summer transfer window of 2023. Rumors suggest that the Ligue 1 side is also interested in Pedri, who has been impressing with the Catalan giants.
PSG's interest in Pedri is reportedly accompanied by their willingness to pay a hefty transfer fee to Barcelona. It is rumored that Les Parisiens are ready to offer £110 million to recruit the young Spanish wonderkid to their ranks.
Media in France is already buzzing with excitement over the potential connection between Paris Saint-Germain and Pedri. Contacts made by the Ligue 1 club with Pedri's agency, Leaderbrock Sports, are seen as a sign of intent in this summer's transfer market.
